1. What is the Calgary BeerFest all about?
The Calgary International Beerfest is a celebration of beer. Increase your beer knowledge and find a new favourite by sampling some of the more than 200 different types on site. Take part in beer seminars, vote for the People’s Choice awards, meet new people, sample delicious foods, enjoy the atmosphere and entertainment, and have a great time! Upon entry, each guest will receive an official Calgary International Beerfest sample mug to use throughout the event and take home with them afterwards!
2. Where is the event held?
In 2012 we are moving to the BMO Center (Halls D&E) on Stampede Park. Located in central Calgary just off MacLeod Trail and Olympic Way; it’s easy to get to, has ample parking, is close to the C-Train station and is close to the Saddledome, 17th Ave. and Downtown Calgary. Saturday, May 5th

4. What can someone expect to find when they get there?
Patrons will enjoy the amazing beers, succulent food, incredible interactive entertainment, great live music and a lot more! Play games, learn about beers, meet people… there’s never a dull moment.
5. How do the sample tokens work at the event?
All beers & food can be sampled by purchasing Sample Tokens. Tokens are $1.00 a piece and sold in bundles of 10. Samples typically cost two-three sample tokens, but some imported beers may cost more. A sample of beer is legally 4oz, which is 1/3 of a bottle of beer.
6. How much are tickets and where can I get them?
You’ll want to get your tickets early as there are a limited number available and they can sell out. Tickets can be bought in advance for $19 through our website – www.calgarybeerfest.com. Tickets at the door are $25 and entrance is subject to capacity. Weekend passes can only be purchased in advance through the Calgary BeerFest website and are $29.
7. Is there a charity involved?
Once again, Calgary BeerFest is proud to be supporting AAFS – the Autism, Aspergers Friendship Society. A portion of advance ticket purchases will go to support this worthy cause.
The AAFS provides respite care in a recreational environment for families with children-teens-adults on the Autism/Aspergers/PDD spectrum in the Calgary area. We recognize that everyone has very unique social abilities and we do our best to expand on those skills. The outings are in a group atmosphere with AAFS leaders promoting socialization among the participants. Our activities are planned with the help of both the children and their families.
8. Can I volunteer to work at the festival?
It may sound clichéd – but we really couldn’t do it without the volunteers. Most of our volunteers come to us through our charity of choice – but you are of course welcome to approach us to see if there is anything that you can do. You can contact us at events@get-a-life.ca
9. Can people get dressed up for Beerfest?
Beerfest is an event for anyone who likes learning about beer, meeting new people, and having a great time. We encourage people to dress nicely but not too nicely. Last year there was a wide range of styles for the event. Anything from tuxes, togas, and kilts, to casual night-on-the-town attire. Dress comfortably but dress appropriately.
10. What if someone isn’t that into beer? Is there something for them at the event?
Although the event has a very heavy focus on beer, we understand that not everyone appreciates this incredible beverage the way we do. In light of that, we will have a conservative selection of other beverages for patrons to enjoy - plus a wide range of interactive entertainment, live music, and delicious food from first-class restaraunts and pubs throughout Calgary.
11. What beer learning occurs at the event?
Our goal at the Calgary International Beerfest is to increase your “Beer-Q” and help you find a new favourite. Beer seminars, hosted by brewmasters and brewery representatives are held regularly each evening. We also provide beer judging guides, beer lists, and food pairing information for all of our guests. For the ladies, we have a ladies guide to tasting beer and food pairings, and the first seminar each night is for ladies only to become better acquainted with beer knowledge.
